Frequently asked questions
What is the registration process?
The first step in the registration is for you to come visit the center of your choice for a tour! Select the center you're most interested in and we'll get this organized. After your tour, we'll encourage you to visit other centers and make a decision based on what you see and the best fit for your family.
To book your child's space, you'll make a depost. You'll work with your center to schedule your child's transition and start dates.
You'll need to complete a registration form prior to your child's first day at the center.
What is the transition process?
We believe in a positive transition to daycare that recognizes the uniquenes of your family and child.
As such, we are pleased to offer families two weeks transition time when beginning your child’s early learning and child care journey with us. This time is unpaid and allows you to visit the classroom with your child to ease him/her into their new environment.
This transition time enables both the child and the family to become familiar with our educators, the children in the room and the program routine. Parents must stay with their child during this time, unless otherwise arranged with management.
A month before your child is scheduled to begin we will reach out to you to develop a transition plan and schedule. The schedule is customized to suit your family's needs to the best of our ability.
What is the payment process?
All parents are invoiced monthly. Payments are made electronically by credit card or electronic funds transfer.
What if I want to pay cash?
Unfortunately, we only accept electronic payments.
I can't afford childcare but have to go back to work. What are my options?
The provincial government offers a program and administers the subsidy process. To inquire on your eligibility and/or apply, visit: https://www.nbed.nb.ca/parentportal/en/
Why should I choose Origins over other centers?
Origins offers exceptional facilities which often provide space, play and learning far beyond legislative requirements. All our rooms have Early Childhood Educators on Staff, ensuring a solid learning experience for your child. On top of all this, our facility is among the most respected in the region leading significant change in the childcare space.
Most families end up at our center based on referrals from others. Parents enjoy the sense of community, meeting like minded families and building their children's social circles with new friends.
Origins NLC was established in 1995 by founder and current CFO, Jennifer Arseneault. Jennifer first opened a facility in Millidgeville serving 40 families. Today, the company offers early learning and childcare in four locations across the greater Saint John area, serving more than 400 children and families every day. We take pride in the quality provision we provide and seek to enhance the field of early learning and childcare both locally, nationally and internationally by sharing what we do with others via social media and by constantly investing in our own knowledge and growth as early childhood educators.
Origins’ appointed Dr. Erin Schryer as CEO in July 2018. Erin holds a PhD in Education and specializes in early childhood development and early literacy. Erin provides educators across Origins NLC regular, frequent support and guidance in the classroom to ensure children and families are provided the best care and learning opportunities possible. She understands well and highly values the importance of the early years and seeks to share this importance widely, whenever she can.
Origins NLC has Executive Director’s at each facility who are responsible for the overall management and operation of the facility. They work closely with colleagues at Education and Early Childhood Development on items related to compliance and curriculum, as each of our facilities are provincially licensed.
At Origins we value the competence and abilities of children first and foremost. We recognize parents as key partners in children’s education and care and offer close collaboration with families at all times. We encourage you to learn more about us by booking a tour or meeting. We look forward to meeting you.
